About The Artist
I have always loved drawing and painting and have been painting now for more
than twenty four years . Most of these years I have been teaching. In 1988, a friend of mine started talking
to me about decorative painting. Since my friend was already teaching I decided to try my hand at painting. So I started
painting in the tole decorative painting styles. Since then I have continued to study under many different artists learning
different techniques and developing my own style of painting.
Presently I am teaching painting classes at the
Hobby Lobby Stores in Rock Hill, SC, Gastonia, NC and Mooresville, NC.
I was watching television one day and happened upon a
show of Brenda Harris teaching how to do acrylic paintings. So I contacted Brenda and found that I could be certified through
Alexander Art in the Brenda Harris technique of acrylic painting. So I practiced Brenda's technique and went for certification
in Greensboro, NC and was certified by Alexander Art in the Brenda Harris technique. Well it wasn't long before I
was watching the Alexander Art shows on television with different artist such as Buck Paulson, Robert Warren, Lowell Speers and of course the Master of Oil Painting, Bill Alexander. I then went on to study their oil painting
techniques and flew to Florida and was certified in the oil painting techniques through Alexander Art.
Well, that really got the creative juices flowing!
I truly feel that a person will never learn it all, but you
are always learning new techniques. The art of painting is only limited to your imagination. That is what makes painting
so wonderful to be able to paint and learn from others.
I have enjoyed studing painting techniques from such artists as Robert Warren, Buck Paulson, Este Rayle, Gloria Lowery, Lynn Pittard, Valerie Stewart, Gary & Kathwren Jenkins, Bob Ross, Mark Polomchak, Marie Merritt, Brenda Harris, Kitty Gorrell, Dorothy Dent, Mary Lou Johnson, Nancy Kinney, Mary Gibilisco, Maureen McNaughton, Liz Miller and Gretchen Cagle just to name a few. I have also studied with Donna Mabry in the faux technique styles. Each of these artists have their own techniques and it is good to not only be able to teach
and paint but also enjoy taking painting classes from other artists.
Not only do I enjoy painting and teaching, I also enjoy learning new
techniques. My hope is that you will enjoy reading my website
and taking some of my painting classes.
Please enjoy your visit and
have a Blessed Day!
